System of a Down’s Serj Tankian Releases 24-Minute Piano Concerto, “Disarming Time”

As promised, System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has released a piano concerto he composed during the Covid-19 quarantine period, one of several projects he worked on during that time. Titled “Disarming Time: A Modern Piano Concerto,” the piece has a running time of 24 minutes and arrives with some accompanying visuals. You can listen to that composition in full below.

Tankian has also announced that he will be releasing a spoken word version of his 2001 poetry book, Cool Gardens, in the upcoming weeks. Tankian has revisited the book to compose a cinematic score to accompany his reading of it, according to The PRP.

Tankian released a rock-oriented solo EP, Elasticity, earlier this year. System of a Down released two new songs last fall, their first in 15 years, raising over $600,000 for Armenians affected by the fighting in Artsakh.
