Halestorm Announce New Record Back From The Dead, Drop First Track

0

Today would’ve been the 82nd birthday of George A. Romero, the director of such pivotal zombie films as 1968’s Night of the Living Dead, 1978’s Dawn of the Dead, and 1985’s Day of the Dead. Whether or not Halestorm were aware of this when they decided to title their new album Back From The Dead and announce it today is uncertain (though for the record, it’s very certain, they did not). None the less, the band have announced that record, and have dropped a first single to boot.

Halestorm’s fifth studio album…

Wow, Halestorm have only had four studio albums before this? It feels like they’re releasing a ton of stuff all the time. I guess they also have, wait, let me look…wow, ten EPs! Damn, one of America’s biggest hard rock acts basically operates like an Ecuadorian black metal band.

ANYway: Halestorm’s fifth studio album Back from the Dead comes out May 6th on Atlantic, and is available for preorder. Here’s what vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale had to say about it:

“We started writing this album about three months B.C. (Before COVID). Once we went into lockdown and were unable to perform and tour, I fell into a dark place and something of an identity crisis.

“This album is the story of me carving myself out of that abyss. It is a journey of navigating mental health, debauchery, survival, redemption, rediscovery, and still maintaining faith in humanity.”

And as for the band’s new single, “The Steeple?” It’s a huge departure for them, a prog-fueled epic that moves across various grand vistas of hehehahaHAHAHAHAH, I’m sorry, I can’t, no, it’s a Halestorm song. It’s got a singalong chorus and lyrics about how we’re all here for rock and shit. It’s the kind of song Vinnie Paul would’ve been really down with.
