Get ready, nerdy collectors — Record Store Day 2022 is upon us! The annual celebration of all things tangible, analog, and hastily-thumbed-through has returned for another year, giving you a chance to buy something kind of overpriced and fancy in order to keep your favorite local record store alive.
This year’s even comes three days too late for true bleary-eyed, ill-advised purchases, going down on April 23rd. And this year, the organizers have decided to make it one day and one day only:
We feel strongly that stores have learned and adapted in the past few years and are ready to bring back elements of a “traditional” Record Store Day, bands and beer and fun and people and whatever parts of the party they like, in ways that make them, and their customers, comfortable. We also feel strongly that it’s important to focus on those stores themselves, and celebrate what they do year-round, in their communities.
