Lingua Ignota Announces North American Tour

0

There will be opportunities to see two Lingua Ignota sets in one night on the experimental musician’s just-announced fall tour. The “Repent Now” tour has two legs—the first in November and the second in December.

This is the first tour in support of Lingua Ignota’s harrowing and unique 2021 project, SINNER GET READY. It is also the first time she has made a public appearance since her abuse allegations against Daughters’ Alexis Marshall.

According to the press release:

“[Kristin] Hayter is notorious for peerless live performances that blend elements of performance art, religious pageantry, and visceral immersion in the space that eschews the traditional relationship between performer and audience and this run is no different. Kicking off November 10th in Austin, the first of two legs, and wrapping December 19th in Toronto, each show will come in two parts exploring communal catharsis through traditional hymns performed with prepared piano as well as selections from her entire catalogue, with surprises strewn throughout. See below for full dates.”

Anyone who’s seen Hayter’s live show as Lingua Ignota can vouch for the fact that it’s a unique and not-to-be-missed kind of thing. The fact that Hayter is performing two sets is really intriguing. Based on the press release, it seems like the shows will be a mix of her more recent, less noisy output and her older, more power electronics-based music. Lingua Ignota is doing these shows alone, so get ready for an emotional and heavy night.
