Katatonia Drop the Second Single from Sky Void of Stars and Video for “Austerity”

0

Gloomy gothic metal band Katatonia are back again to end your week with their latest single and accompanying music video, “Austerity.” As the second single off their forth coming studio effort Sky Void of Stars, it’s apparent that the band has nothing they really need to prove to anyone at this point.

Heartfelt yet dark, the song definitely feels like a Katatonia track, thanks to the excellent work by Jonas Renkse and the rest of the band. Featuring a stark, rain-soaked cityscape and a whole mess of fucked up looking birds, the video below is definitely visually effective.

With this track now out in the wild, it’s apparent that Sky Void of Stars looks to continue Katatonia’s long reign of gloomy metal music. Sky Void of Stars will be available on January 20, 2023, though you can preorder a copy today via Nuclear Blast.

Katatonia have been touring the U.S. for the first time in five years with The Ocean Collective and Cellar Darling providing support. Following their time in North America, Katatonia will return to Europe and the U.K. to kick off 2023 with a tour alongside Sólstafir and SOM.
