Deftones main man Chino Moreno and producer Shaun Lopez follow up their debut Crosses LP ten years later with the PERMANENT.RADIANT EP. The synth-driven electronic project is defined by rumbling digital percussion and Moreno’s instantly-recognizable croon. Not metal at all, but a cool addition to the collection for some listeners.

Back from the Dead: Deluxe (Atlantic)

Though it’s technically just an expanded edition of their album from earlier this year, the deluxe edition of Back from the Dead includes a grand total of seven unreleased B-sides so it feels worth mentioning here. At this point, you know what to expect from Lizzy Hale and her crew of hard rockers; you either like it or you don’t. If you like it, you can buy it.

Oakland vets Lionheart are back in action with Welcome to the West Coast III, their latest LP. The band haven’t deviated much from their classic formula, but the riffs are hot and a battery of guest features from Jamey Jasta, Ice-T, AntMoney and Los keep the album moving nicely. Post-black metal architects Woods of Desolation took their time getting around to fourth album The Falling Tide, which comes seven years after their last release. The band are as emotive and original as they ever were, picking up where they left off on As the Stars in 2014. Who knew that one of the year’s most enjoyable black metal releases would come from Australia? Available via Gimme Metal.
