Metallica Released Pro-Shot Footage of the Live Debut of “Lux Æterna”
Earlier this month, Metallica held their annual Helping Hands Concert & Auction, during which they played an acoustic set before switching to a more traditional, all plugged in set. And while the whole thing was worth watching, the band pulled out the new-new with the live debut of “Lux Æterna,” the first single off their forthcoming album 72 Seasons.
Up until now, you’ve either had to have caught the performance when it ran live on Paramount+ or you needed to be in attendance to get the best possible view of the song’s debut, as the only YouTube clips that existed were shoddy cell phone camera jawns.
Well earlier today, Metallica released the “MetOnTour Edit” of the song, giving us the best view possible to catch each and every one of James’ “YEAH” shout in HD. It’s worth noting that this version skips the whole cymbal SNAFU that causes the band to start over, but you’ve still got the cell phone footage for that if you really need it.
We’re only a few months away from the release of 72 Seasons, which will be available on April 14, 2023. Then less than two weeks after that, Metallica will embark on the first leg of a massive, two-year touring schedule, which you can check out below the video.
