Danzig Cancels His Houston Show Because the World is Overheating

0

Though he isn’t due to hit the stage in Houston until this Sunday, Danzig and his team announced earlier today that the upcoming show was canceled due to an “ongoing heatwave” affecting pretty much the entire southern U.S.

Though he’s still on track to perform tomorrow in Irving, Texas and Saturday in San Antonio, Houston’s show was largely canceled because the venue (White Oak Music Hall) is outdoors. With no realistic way to ensure fans and crew will remain cool during the show, Danzig’s team said they had to make the decision to cancel that show entirely.

“Due to the ongoing heatwave, and out of concern for our crew and fans, we are forced to cancel our outdoor show in Houston this Sunday Sept. 3. We hope to make it back as soon as possible. Refunds will be issued at point of purchase.” Danzig official Facebook page

To say it’s been ungodly hot in Texas lately would be an understatement. According to Houston Public Media, the major city tied its hottest temperature record of 109 degrees. It was the third time that mark was reached, with the first taking place in September 2000 and the second taking place in late August 2011. Three days later, they hit that mark again on August 27, 2023. And all that isn’t even accounting for the 23-day streak of temperatures in the triple digits, either.

The world’s on fire, ya’ll.

This cancellation comes weeks after Danzig was forced to reschedule the August 25th show in Las Vegas and the August 26th show in Norco, California because of tour bus shortages. In that instance, both shows were moved to September 23 and September 24, respectively — though the Norco show was also relocated to Ontario, California.

Danzig is currently out on the road performing the entirety of his band’s 1988 self-titled debut album, with Behemoth, Midnight and Twin Temple also on the bill. Here’s hoping the rest of the tour goes off without a hitch.
