Flotsam and Jetsam Cancel Tour, Cite Poor Ticket Sales

0

Long-running thrash outfit Flotsam and Jetsam have canceled their upcoming tour of the Northeast, citing poor ticket sales in addition to other factors including issues with crew and transportation. Their official statement reads:

“We had a logistical nightmare even trying to secure transportation and crew for this short run.

“There are so many great bands on the road right now that it’s making touring very difficult in what is a very saturated market.

“We had an important crew member bail on the tour at the last minute for undisclosed reasons, but the final straw was finding out that the ticket sales were poor.

“We definitely don’t want promoters to lose money booking our band, so we’ll reschedule at a time that makes more sense for them.

“We apologize to the fans that were planning on coming to see us on these dates and we hope to see you on tour soon.”

Obviously Flotsam and Jetsam aren’t the first band to talk about the constantly-increasing difficulties of touring in 2023. Over the summer, Fear Factory‘s Dino Cazares discussed some of his band’s difficulties:

“It’s kind of like just life in general. Anybody who has a normal job — you’re still getting paid 10 bucks an hour, but your rent went up, your insurance went up, food prices went up, gas prices went up, but your pay is the same. It’s kind of like how it’s been for bands as well. Promoters are only willing to pay you so much, but everything else went up. Now the club owners and the promoters are taking a cut of your merchandise, so it’s making harder and harder for artists to survive out there.”
