Former Desolated Bassist Missing After Hamas Attack

0

Following a recent Hamas attack on the Gaza border, Israeli musician Jake Marlowe, formerly of the band Desolated, has been reported missing.

Though no longer with the band, the former bassist of the well-known British hardcore band was among the list of individuals that went missing following an attack on a music festival that was taking place near Kibbutz Re’im, just a few miles from the Gaza Strip.

Reports on the incident explain that Marlowe, who lives in Ma’alot in northern Israel, was working security for the event. During the show, he had contacted his mother to talk about flying rockets in the area. The last message from him was reportedly received around 5:30 a.m. U.K. time, in which he said everything was fine, but that he had bad signal.

So far, searches have not turned up any results at local hospitals, and the Israeli embassy has officially confirmed Marlowe is missing.

Sadly, Marlowe’s story has become far too familiar in the wake of last weekend’s attack on Israel perpetrated by the terror organization Hamas. Conducted during the Jewish holiday Simchat Torah, the multi-pronged attack saw Hamas militants attack military personnel and civilians alike in a coordinated attack that left several hundred individuals dead, including more than 250 killed at the aforementioned music festival.

It’s unclear whether Marlowe is among the dead or if he’s one of the more than 100 Israelis currently being held captive by Hamas.

Marlowe had been in Israel since November 2021 to connect to his Jewish roots and home country. He didn’t end up enlisting in the army there, but he did decide to embrace his culture full-force by emigrating to the Middle Eastern country.

Though there’s no clear indication as to Marlowe’s condition or his whereabouts, MetalSucks will continue to follow the story and hope for positive news on Marlowe. Our thoughts are with all innocent civilians on both sides currently caught in the crossfire.
