Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain to Play at This Year’s Mountbatten Festival of Music
After successfully surviving a mini-stroke and being an integral part of one of the biggest metal bands of all time, Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain is joining the Marines. Well, let me be more clear — he’ll be joining The Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines for a couple of special performances during the 52nd Mountbatten Festival of Music this coming march.
McBrain will be involved in three concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Friday March 8 and Saturday March 9, with each performance also including 100 musicians chosen from the five Royal Marines Bands, along with the Corps of Drums.
Speaking of the opportunity, McBrain said he was honored to be part of the event in any capacity.
“It is such an honour to be invited to perform with the Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines at the 2024 Mountbatten Festival of Music. I feel so humbled to be a part of this fantastic event. I look forward to seeing you all at the Royal Albert Hall in March to enjoy rockin’ out to some Maiden ditties along with a few fantastic surprises!”
The yearly festival is a fundraising source for both the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, as well as the Young Lives vs Cancer Charity.
