That Cradle of Filth Track Featuring Ed Sheeran Supposedly Coming Later This Year

0

It feels like we’ve been talking about this fucking Cradle of Filth/Ed Sheeran collab forever, but it’s only been a couple years since news of such an odd pairing came out. With frontman Dani Filth sharing that he and the pop artist have become good friends and that the new track features “a blast beat,” we’ve all been left wondering just what the hell they did in that studio back in 2022.

Well according to a recent interview with Metalshop (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Filth revealed that we might not actually have to wait until next year to find out.

“The song’s been done now for about a year and two months. It was done just before Christmas 2022. And the reason for the delay is because we had plans for it, and then his management said, ‘Well, he’s releasing a record. Can’t do it now.’ ‘He’s doing this. Can’t do it now.’ So we’ve got a plan for it. It’s gonna actually go on our new record, which is due out the end of this year.”

That’s gotta be a little bit frustrating, sitting on something you know will likely break the internet but you can’t release it because some record label big wig wants everything to fit on their timetable. Still, it’s interesting that we now have some idea when we’ll hear the damn thing — and when Cradle of Filth is apparently planning on releasing their next album.

During the interview, Filth also described how working with Ed Sheeran went down, explaining just how apparently down to Earth the singer is.

“The thing is [Ed] is obviously one of the biggest artists in the world. [But he is] very humble. When he came to the studio, it was just him — no security; just him with his guitar, [wearing a] Cradle of Filth hoodie. Then we took him to a pub for some lunch, ’cause he was hungry. We had a good day.”

As for the track itself, Filth said people would be “surprised by it,” since both Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran sound like themselves while remaining cohesive. I’m a little bummed we won’t hear some metal vocals come out of that ginger’s gob, but it is what it is. We’ll just have to wait.
