We Can’t Hear All the Gatekeepers Over the Babymetal/Electric Callboy Collab “Ratatata”
In a move that’s likely pissing off crusty gatekeepers and “that’s not metal” squealers all over the internet, kawaii metal titans Babymetal have teamed up with German electronicore and all around good time Electric Callboy to create the Molotov cocktail of catchiness titled “Ratatata.”
Honestly, this song is a great melding of the two bands’ styles with a great music video to match. Is it brutal? Nope. Is it kvlt? Not even fucking close. Is it some good, light-hearted fun? Damn straight it is.
The guys in Electric Callboy said they had a great time working on the track with Babymetal.
“Working with BABYMETAL was so much fun. We joined our creative forces and, in the end, we brought together the best of both worlds. We love ‘RATATATA’!”
As far as we know, this single isn’t part of a new album for the Japanese idol metal band. After all, they’re still touring in support of last year’s concept album The Other One. That being said, it could have been released as a way to hype their own weekend festival Fox_Fest, which is taking place in Japan this weekend and will feature Electric Callboy and Polyphia.
In addition to this weekend’s festivities, Babymetal have tour dates in Europe lined up for the rest of the summer, as do Electric Callboy. In fact, some dates will be overlapping for the two bands, so who knows if they’ll perform this one live?
