Zeal & Ardor Release Another New Single “Clawing Out”
We’re only two tracks into the promotional effort behind Zeal & Ardor‘s forthcoming album Greif and one thing’s already abundantly clear — if you’re expecting more like Devil Is Fine or Stranger Fruit, you may want to temper your expectations. Where the first track was a sad, significantly calmer offering, this new track titled “Clawing Out” feels more choppy, avant-garde, and weirdly grimy.
One thing that stands out to me in this song is the weird, off-kilter rhythmic pattern that pulses throughout the entire thing. Manuel Gagneux’s vocal delivery flirts between a melodic tone one minute and the frayed/distorted the next. It all just seems tense.
Though the album itself isn’t listed on Spotify, rival digital streaming platform Apple Music have the album Greif listed as coming out on August 13. The listing also highlights the album’s 14 new tracks, including “To My Ilk.”
