There seems to be a bit of an arms race going on in the metal world following the death of the legendary Ozzy Osboune. Multiple documentaries have begun surfacing in various platforms and the latest one to offer another look at the final years of the “Prince of Darkness” just had its official trailer released — Ozzy: No Escape From Now from Paramount+.

Spanning the course of two hours, the feature film apparently follows the musician’s “six-year health battle as he fights to get back on stage one last time.” That includes the 2019 fall where he had to cancel his farewell tour and which really served as the beginning of the end of his live performances. In the trailer, Ozzy’s daughter Aimee reflected on that injury.

“He was in hospital for weeks. To fall like that and not be able to bounce back like he had in the past, and then having to cancel the tour – that was his biggest heart-break.”

The film’s press release will then follow Ozzy’s various procedures to attempt to get better, as well as the compounding effect his battle with Parkinson’s had on his recovery. On that front, the folks behind Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape from Now said the documentary “delivers a brave, unvarnished and relatable portrait of a man, highlighting how Ozzy’s ongoing chronic pain impacted his mental health and informed the music he made during this period.”

The documentary also covers the making of the 2020 album Ordinary Man and Ozzy’s final solo offering, 2022’s Patient Number 9, which went on to win a Grammy. The run up to the ‘Back to the Beginning’ show is also a major focus of this documentary.

As you’d expect, it features a ton of additional cameos and interviews of folks from Ozzy’s career, including: Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan and Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ozzy’s longstanding guitarist Zakk Wylde, Andrew Watt, Billy Morrison, Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Mike Inez (Alice In Chains), and Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins).

It should be noted that this isn’t the same as the BBC’s doc Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, which was delayed at the Osbournes’ request. That documentary still has yet to receive an airing date. You can check out the trailer for Ozzy: No Escape From Now in the clip below.
