Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody Accidentally Had His Eye Injured By a Laser During Welcome to Rockville
Holy shit, Ivan Moody got injured in perhaps the most rock and roll way possible. According to the Five Finger Death Punch singer, during the band’s recent Welcome to Rockville set, he accidentally got shot in the eye with an onstage laser.
Before we go any further: we’re not trying to belittle the extent of Ivan’s injury by saying it’s ‘rock and roll,’ as those motherfuckin’ lasers are hardcore. We’re more just saying that it’s not an injury your average shmuck would ever deal with.
Anyway, so: in a video on his Instagram, Ivan said hello from the hospital, surrounded by dehydrated concertgoers and hospital staff, and explained:
“For anyone who saw the show, I looked directly into one of our high-powered lasers that has the wattage of a small supernova — I’m making that up…”
Later, Moody elaborates:
“I dunno, I went to grab my drummer’s kit and my eyes started going black…”
In a since-deleted post transcribed by Blabbermouth, Moody also explained to his fans:
“So when I go to Europe here in a couple of weeks, you all might be seeing me with a fucking patch on my eye. Go ahead. Make fun. Don’t care. But it is what it is. I had a blast. Like I said, I’m really sorry. I felt like I got exhausted [during the Welcome To Rockville set] — the weight of the humidity. 85 percent humidity in 90-degree weather, it takes a toll. And I saw a lot of you falling down. And when I went to the E.R., there were a lot of you out there.”
Dude, ain’t no one gonna make fun of you for that! First off, rock stars are one of three people who are totally allowed to wear eyepatches (the other two being pirates and Nazi officers in movies). Second, you got shot in the eye by a laser. You’re good, man.
