Revocation - Dave Davidson

As part of our sponsorship of The Legacy Tour, featuring Darkest Hour, Veil of Maya, Periphery and Revocation, one member from each band will be penning an exclusive blog entry for MetalSucks to run during the tour (get a full list of tour dates here). Our first entry featured Veil of Maya guitarist Marc Okubo taking us on a run-through of his entire live rig. Now here’s Revocation’s Dave Davidson with an update from the road:

Hey guys, Dave from Revocation here, checking in from the Darkest Hour Legacy tour.

It’s been a little over a week since we’ve been out and we’re currently in Cleveland getting ready to play at Peabody’s. So far the tour has been going great, all the bands are killing it every night and all the dudes are cool as fuck. Everyone’s been getting along really well right off the bat so we’re stoked that we still have three more weeks left to rage.

Here’s a quick recap of the shows so far. Worcester was the bomb as always, tons of stage dives and old buddys. The NYC show was killer and after the gig all the bands went out and raged into the wee hours of the morning. It was awesome to rip it with everyone this early on into the tour, as it definitely set the precedent for things to come. After a solid gig in Allentown we had a little trouble with the Canadian border crossing so we had to completely change course and enter through Vermont. Luckily our re-routing worked out and all the bands got into Canada without incident.

The three shows we played in Canada were sweet. The Montreal show was merged with the Acacia Strain/Red Chord tour; it was good to see fellow Massholes throwing down in Canada. Shout out to our boys in Beneath the Massacre who came out and partied with us and let us crash.

Detroit was a blast… Misha and I had a total shred session backstage and got to trade licks. It’s very inspiring to play with all of these musicians since everyone is so proficient and dedicated to their craft. After a bro down sesh with the Black Dahlia dudes we packed up and hit the road. Tonight we’re stoked to shred faces in Ohio and then rage Peabody’s into the ground in a blaze of alcohol fueled glory.  Hope this blog has been informative, stay tuned for updates from the other bands. Peace!

Detroit was a blast?! Cool man, I’m glad to hear you say that, as I thought the crowd was really light (like 150 ppl max, and maybe 50 of us stayed for the Darkest Hour set).

Well, either way I absolutley loved it. I’ll be sure to make it out next time Revo comes through town!!

    • Stu

That’s probably average for the tour.

    • Huthaifa Al-Rawi

i didn’t expect him to say that about detroit show ! so cool :)
yeah too bad not many ppl showed up for it, it was less than 150, I was the guy handling flyers and shits for Sumerian Records (Veil of Maya/Periphery/After the Burial)
it was great to hangout with the bands backstage after the show, Misha was giving some kid a guitar lesson in the presence of Black Dahlia Murder while everyone was getting stoned lmfao ! that was hilarious, but good times nontheless

I had a lot of fun, i wish Dave’s guitar was turned up louder, but it was sweet anyways. I caughht up with my bros in TBDM, got my Revo-pick signed (I laugh every time i see that face), and Darkest Hours setlist, I thought it was lame when most of the kids left after VoM, but whateve i had fun

saw you dudes for the first time at the palladium, and you guys fucking rule so hard.

Saturday night was incredible………all four bands were insane and it was easily the best 15 bones that I have dropped on a show in a really really long time. It was my first time seeing any of the bands live and it did not disappoint. It was also very good to hear Darkest Hour play selections that spanned their entire dicog. It was also good to see Dave melt faces even with those staples in your dome!!! Hope all heals well man!!! If anyone has a chance to catch this tour on its upcoming locations I would highly recommend it. as the saying goes……A++ fast shipping. would do business with again!

  • WowWee!

Going to see you motherfuckers on Wednesday! OH YEAH!!!!

Still playing Existence is Futile all the time. Front to back it crushes. 9.5/10. They deserve all the credit and exposure that they are getting.

hellllls YEA! I’m proud of these guys. I’ve seen them in Boston a buncha times, and they always bring it live!

  • Beauzaque

The Toronto show fucking killed. Had a round of beers with Dave and the guys. Really cool dudes.

  • M’Kay

Saw them Saturday in Chicago, and they rocked their set. got to meet Dave and Phil (the drummer) and they were nice dudes. Dave also apparently smacked his head whilst crowdsurfing during Darkest Hour, and played the Chicago show with staples, stitches, and shit holding his noggin together. Fantastic show by them and all the other bands on the bill.

  • soy el niño más bonito

i was at the cleveland show on friday night and revocation fucking slayed.

  • Dave

They spent the night at my house after the Cleveland show. All solid dudes. Didn’t see much of Dave seeing that his head was split open. I was even kind enough to let him have my bed for the night, while I drank with Phil till 6am. Support these guys, they are a great band, and they bring Taco Bell.
