UPDATE ON THE EVERY TIME I DIE BASS SITCH

Earlier this week, it was announced that Every Time I Die had parted ways with bassist Josh Newton. Which, of course, raised a few questions, such as, “Who is the new bass player in Every Time I Die?”, “Is Newton still in The Damned Things despite the presence of now-former-ETID bandmate Keith Buckley?”, and “Does anyone have a Fig Newton for me? I suddenly have a really strong craving for Fig Newtons.”

Well, now at least two of those questions have been answered.

Stephen Micciche, who played bass for ETID from 2001 to 2005 and even recorded with them for 2003’s Hot Damn!, has returned to the band… although if he’s just filling-in or is back for good is not yet clear. But however temporary, the reunion should make fans happy. It should also raise yet another question: “How the hell do you pronounce ‘Micciche’?”

Meanwhile, Newton has now said via Twitter that, yes, he is still the bassist for The Damned Things. He’s also confirmed that which we already suspected, based on everyone’s delightfully friendly fare-thee-wells to one another over the internet — that the split with ETID was totally amicable:

“just to reiterate: all is well w/ ETID & myself. drama free. i’ve made the decision to spend more time at home.”

So that’s nice. You know what they say… home is where the Fig Newtons are.

Christ, I want a cookie so fuckin’ bad right now.
