Immortal Bird’s Van Stolen; Band Loses Equipment, Merch

Goddamnit.

So last night, Darkest Hour’s current MetalSucks-sponsored tour with Rotten Sound and Rivers of Nihil (and, on select dates, Tombs — get the full itinerary here) absolutely annihilated our home away from home, Saint Vitus in Brooklyn. The show was sold out, all the bands sounded killer, and a great time was had by all. Making the show extra-special was that it also included Withered and Immortal Bird, who are currently on tour together. Alas, I didn’t manage to catch Immortal Bird, but Vince did, and he was RAVING about them. He wasn’t the only one, either. Apparently, they were the surprise hit of the night.

And then as a reward for a job well done, some cock stole all their shit.

Metal Insider reports that after their set, the band drove to Bay Ridge to chill with some buds before continuing on their way to their next tour stop, in Boston. When they went back to get the van later, they found it had been stolen — with all their equipment and merch still inside. MI says “the band believes they may have been followed from the show.” The NYPD reviewed some video and spotted the van being driven across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge around 6 am, although that certainly doesn’t guarantee that they’ll be able to retrieve it, or that everything inside the van will still be there if they do.

Naturally, the band is going to miss their show in Boston tonight, which sucks. But they’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign so that hopefully they can get back on the road soon. Donate here. The page also has details and photos of both the van and the gear on the off-chance you spot it or someone tries to sell you a sweet guitar on the cheap or whatever.

It really fucking sucks that the band’s triumphant night had to end this way. Regardless of whether or not Immortal Bird ever get their shit back, I hope whoever took it trips and lands on something sharp and cuts his or her sexual organs off. Fucker.
