Video: Pig Destroyer + New Bassist John Jarvis Cover Helmet’s “In The Meantime”The metalsphere was aflutter last week when Pig Destroyer announced that, after going sixteen years without a bass player, they were adding bassist John Jarvis (cousin of drummer Adam Jarvis — they’re also in the band Fulgora together) to the fold.

So how does the newly low-end-friendly PxDx sound? Jarvis made his debut with the band this past weekend at Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Festival, and The PRP has dug up some fan-filmed footage of the band covering Helmet’s classic “In the Meantime” as part of their performance. The sound quality isn’t stellar, but if you turn the bass up on your speakers you can definitely hear Jarvis, and, yeah, he sounds good! Of course, what we all really wanna hear are Jarvis’ contributions to pre-existing, bassless PxDx material… and oddly, no footage of that seems to have surfaced yet. Is it possible the raw power of Pig Destroyer temporarily disabled every camera phone in the house? I wouldn’t doubt it.

And I’m assuming you’re all very familiar with Helmet’s original, but just in case…
