Anata Band PhotoIt’s been three months since Anata bassist Henrik Drake debunked the rumor that the band has broken up… but fans are still going on about it on the group’s Facebook page. So now Drake has intervened to once again emphasize that the band has every intention of releasing the long-awaited follow-up to The Conductor’s Departure… but the issue causing the hold-up seems to be the same issue that has always caused the hold-up:

I completely understand the advantages of having a record deal. I’m not anti-label. But I’m also aware that it’s 2014, and there are a lot of alternative means of getting your music out to the masses. In fact, last time I wrote about this band/album, I suggested they use Indiegogo or a similar crowdfunding outlet to raise whatever funds they need to finally release this album. They don’t really “need” a record deal. And, hate to be my usual cynical self, but at this point, I’d be surprised if a record deal were imminent. It’s been too long since Departure, revered though that album is, it’s not revered on the same level as, say, Epitaph. If any sizable label really wanted to get on the Anata train, they’d be on board by now.

So. I don’t know what’s stopping them from going the crowdfunding route at this point. But I am now publicly volunteering to help them get this shit going. Let’s do this, Anatans. The time is now. I will help you get the campaign set up. I will whore the shit out of it to help you reach your goal. And I’m gonna go out on a limb and wager that MetalSucks isn’t the only media outlet willing to help. I can’t promise we’ll be successful, but I can promise we won’t go down without a fight. ANATA 2014!!!

Thanks: Lucas M. No, not that Lucas M.
