Skid Row’s Re-Recording of “18 and Life” is the Dumbest Thing Since Sebastian Bach

18 and life 89 vs 2015Skid Row have re-recorded their megahit “18 and Life” with their new vocalist, T.N.T.’s Tony Harnell. And if you’re thinking “Gee, that does NOT sound like a good idea,” congratulations for having more common sense than any of the members of Skid Row. This sounds like a good-enough cover band doing “18 and Life” in a bar in Los Angeles, like Steel Panther if Steel Panther weren’t brilliant and never made it big. It answers the question “Should I go see Skid Row live for the nostalgia trip even though they’re now missing several original members?” with a resounding “Only if it’s free and you really, really having nothing better to do.” The kindest thing you can say about this is that it’s so underwhelming it could actually damage what currently remains of Skid Row’s career and lead to the Sebastian Bach reunion everyone actually wants.

Listen to the Harnell version of “18 and Life” below, if you dare. Or just skip directly to the real “18 and Life” below that.
