Pro-Shot Footage of Lamb of God, Faith No More, Children of Bodom and More from Hellfest 2015
Between 50,000 and 100,000 metalheads from all over the world gathered together in one place, for one purpose, over the course of three (or more) metal-filled days, all at the absolute PEAK of summer in a remote, picturesque countryside location… it’s a truly magical experience. There’s nothing even close to it in the U.S. — the traveling “festivals” like Mayhem and Summer Slaughter aren’t in the same league, while destination fests such as Maryland Deathfest and Heavy Montreal are great but offer an entirely different experience. Full Terror Assault is finally taking a stab at it later this year, but it’s still in its infancy.
Every year the progression of events is the same: the Euro festivals come, pro-shot footage ends up online and I get super-jealous I missed them. I had the pleasure of attending Download in the UK several years ago with Axl and Roskilde in Denmark a couple summers ago with Frank Injection, but I need more! Not the least of which: Hellfest and Wacken, the two mack-daddy metal fests to beat. The PRP has posted footage of several performances from this year’s Hellfest, which just concluded last ngiht, and man… my jealousy hormones are raging right now. Look out into that audience that stretches as far as the eye can see — have you ever been a part of something so fucking massive and completely united in one cause? I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
Watch a few highlights below. Bear with the audio quality — it usually takes the mix engineers on these live feeds a song or two to get it all balanced.
