Usually, it’s esteemed producer/friend of MetalSucks, Eyal Levi, who appears on our podcast to critique unsigned bands… but now at least one member of the MetalSucks Mob has gotten to return the favor: Glenn Fricker, host of MS’ “The Week in Metal,” appears on the most recent episode of The Joey Sturgis Forum Podcast. The podcast — which is co-hosted by Sturgis, Eyal, and Joel Wanasek — centers on recording, mixing, and mastering, as well as business advice for upcoming music producers and industry professionals. Glenn appeared as part of the #mixcritmonday program to critique some mixes submitted by JSF users. Unsurprisingly, given that a) these are four dudes who really know their shit, and b) these are four dudes who are quite quick of wit, the results were hilarious. Here’s a sample:

If you wanna hear the rest — and I know you do!!! — you need to subscribe to The JSF Podcast as a “Listener” (just five bucks a month!) or higher. You can do that here. In addition to getting to hear all the podcasts (with notable guests such as Andrew Wade, Dan Korneff, Alan Douches, and Bob Katz), subscribing offers some awesome additional perks, including Skype critiques, access to a private online community, live Q&As, discounts on select software products, and more! And that’s to say nothing of the fact that, between Joey, Eyal, and Wanasek, these guys have recorded and/or mixed The Black Dahlia Murder, The Contortionist, Asking Alexandria, Miss May I, Trapt, and Righteous Vendetta (to name but a few). Even if you don’t like those bands/albums, you gotta admit, those are some impressive resumés. So their podcast really is a must-listen for anyone interested in production and engineering.
