Watch This Footage of Corey Taylor Performing Slipknot and Stone Sour Classics Acoustically

Corey Taylor - You're Making Me Hate YouSay, did you know that not only is Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor currently on a solo acoustic tour, but he’s doing so in promotion of his new book?? No, not the book he released last year about the paranormal, spirituality and religion, but a different, entirely new book. It’s called You’re Making Me Hate You, with the sub-title “A Cantankerous Look at the Common Misconception That Humans Have Any Common Sense Left,” and it came out this week via Da Capo Press. Who knew? I find Corey to be an absolutely fascinating fellow, and I’d certainly be interested in reading anything he writes, especially something that’s outside the usual rockstar autobiography genre.

For now, though, we’ve got this: footage of his acoustic show earlier this week at Irving Plaza in New York City. It seems as if Taylor performed a whole lot of covers, which makes sense seeing as it’s probably pretty difficult to render acoustic versions of so many Slipknot songs. The few ‘Knot songs he did perform came out sounding great, though — god, I love his voice — and the Stone Sour material translates much more smoothly, of course. And, um… if you have a burning desire to watch Corey Taylor perform “Lightning Crashes” and some other covers you can do so here.

Also, public service announcement: FOR FUCK’S SAKE, PEOPLE, ALWAYS FILM VIDEO IN LANDSCAPE MODE!! What is wrong with you???
