“Bringer of War” Might Be Ghoul’s Most Brutal Track Yet

Ghoul - Dungeon Bastards

Throughout its storied history, the ragged nation of Creepsylvania has seen lots of conflict and several conquerors, including a civil war that allied the nation with the Chinese (the Chinese government turned down the offer). But so far, Creepsylvania’s chief musical export, Ghoul, has focused on surf-tinged horror-thrash, keeping its sound vicious and evil but fun throughout.

Until now. The band has just released a new track called “Bringer of War,” and does it fucking slay. Much like “Ghoulunatics,” the previous track we’ve heard from their new album Dungeon Bastards, this song is absolutely thrash mayhem, channeling Toxic Holocaust and old Slayer. Maybe it’s the production, or the riffs involved, but this track is far more destructive than a lot of the band’s previous material.

The subject matter also helps. According to guitarist Digestor:

“‘Bringer of War’ is a plaintive ode to the perils of nuclear proliferation, the dangers of a ‘broken-arrow’ scenario, and the ever-present threat of rampaging wolf-headed commandos with acid squirting guns. Listen if you dare.”

Man, who hasn’t been there?

Listen to “Bringer of War” below and bang your head till your eyes go flying out. Dungeon Bastards drops 7/29, but you can pre-order it here, and don’t miss these dudes when they open for Carcass on one of the dates listed here.
