The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus Loves Anthrax and Slayer

0

We knew Norman Reedus, famous for portraying Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, was a metalhead, given that he got a Lemmy tattoo with Brent Hinds (getting a Lemmy tattoo with a member of Mastodon is sort of the all-access pass of metalheaddom).

That said, the dude has been making it very clear that he’s not an ironic scene tourist, he’s in it to win it.

First, Anthrax posted the following video of Reedus and Walking Dead director/make-up FX god Greg Nicotero backstage at Anthrax’s show in Atlanta. Reedus even got out onstage and played bass for some portion of “Indians”, which is something most metalheads only dream of.

Check it out:

Cool, right? Then, this morning, Slayer posted the following to their Instagram:

A photo posted by Slayer (@slayerbandofficial) on

“Metal Santa, this year for Antichristmas, I want a new crossbow, an’ a recipe for owl, but mos’ly I just want my brother Merle back.”

Anyway, the point is, Reedus may play a badass biker zombie hunter on TV, but it’s good to see that it’s not just some actor playing the “tragicomic eternal clown that is the modern metalhead” or some such nonsense. The dude is obviously down with metal, and for that, we salute you.

We’ll let you know when a photo of Reedus and Taylor Swift surfaces, and you can hate him then.
