Stream the New Eighteen Visions Song “The Disease, The Decline, and Wasted Time”

I share in Axl’s assessment that neither of the two songs we’ve heard so far from the reunited Eighteen Visions, “Oath” and “Crucified,” have really quite scratched the itch I felt during the band’s eleven year absence: “Everyone from Carcass to Alice in Chains to At the Gates to Faith No More came back and came back strong; we were statistically due for a bummer.”

That said, the latest 18V track, “The Disease, The Decline, and Wasted Time,” is the best one yet. It’s got a big, burly main riff. It’s got a hook. It’s got a powerful breakdown in precisely the right spot. And most of all, it’s memorable. That’s more than I can say about either of the other two.

We’ll have to wait to reserve final judgement until we hear the entire album, but hopefully XVIII contains more like this and less like the former.

XVIII comes out June 2 on Rise. You can pre-order it here. And don’t miss our exclusive MetalSucks Podcast interview with vocalist James Hart about how the reunion came about, the making of the new album, the band’s future plans and more.
