Veil of Maya Debut New Song “Doublespeak”

  • Axl Rosenberg

Veil of Maya have debuted a new track, “Doublespeak,” via the BBC (for the three of you don’t get it, the title is reference to Orwell’s 1984). I thought their last single, “Overthrow,” was one of the best songs the band has ever written, so the bar was set pretty high for this new jam; unsurprisingly, it doesn’t quite clear that bar. It’s not a bad song, mind you… it’s just not as good as its predecessor. Oddly, the part I like the best is the clean-sung chorus. I think I’d be in all favor of VoM going even more melodic with their music. They clearly have a talent for it.

You can check out the song here (skip to 1:54:55). Veil of Maya’s new album, False Idol, comes out October 20 on Sumerian. Pre-order it here.
