At the Gates and Carcass to Headline Decibel Metal & Beer Fest 2018

  • Axl Rosenberg

The inaugural Decibeer Fest was a big success, which was inevitable: combining metal and beer into one weekend-long event was a stroke of genius. The only way this thing could have appealed to metalheads more is if it included horror movies and porn.

So it’s no surprise that the fest will return for another round next year, which is set to take place March 31 and April 1 at The Fillmore in Philly. The fest’s organizers have just announced the band line-up for the 2018 edition of the fest, and it may be even more impressive than this year’s bill:

At the Gates
Monster Magnet
Full of Hell
Spirit Adrift

Dream Death
Spectral Voice
All Hell

Holy crap, that’s a great line-up. And that’s in addition to all the killer breweries who will be on hand to make sure you barely remember any of it:

Three Floyds (IN)
Hammerheart (MN)
Burial (NC)
Hoof Hearted (OH)
Burnt Hickory (GA)
Weyerbacher (PA)
Yards Brewing (PA)
Stoudts Brewing (PA)
Adroit Theory (VA)
Oliver Brewing (MD)
DC Brau (DC)
Phantom Carriage (CA)
Societe (CA)
Wayfinder (OR)
Jester King (TX)
Broken Goblet (PA)
Brash Brewing (TX)
Strangeways (VA)
Local Option (IL).

A press release promises that “the metalhead brewers that own and work at these breweries will be there to enjoy the music, toast festival-exclusive samples and engage attendees about their exotic brews,” so if you’re the kind of person who is interested in how your hangover gets made, you will be able to ask all about that.

To make sure you get the most bang for your buck, the fest is offering two different ticketing options for each day: a “Metal and Beer” ticket, which “gives attendees access to pours from all 20 breweries, as well as admission to that day’s show,” and “Just Metal” option, which gives you access to the show but means you’ll have to buy beers individually “from selected participating breweries on-tap at the venue.” There’s only gonna 500 of the later option available, so those of you who are on the wagon best not dawdle. Buy your tickets here.
