HALLELUJAH! Baptists Announce New Album, Release First Single

  • Axl Rosenberg

And now for some news that is actually good:

Baptists will release a new, Kurt Ballou-produced album called Beacon of Faith on May 25 via Southern Lord. The first single, “Capsule,” is now available for your streaming pleasure (scroll down, dummy). Also available: the song’s lyrics and the record’s track list (scroll further down, dummy).

This will be the first new offering from the Vancouver quartet in four years, but if “Capsule” is any indication, the wait will have been worth it. Listening to “Capsule” is like drowning in a oversized jar of warm peanut butter. You’ll wonder how anything so lethal could be so delicious.

Digital pre-orders are here… presumably, physical pre-orders will launch here sometime soon.

“Capsule” Lyrics:
Passing cheeks
A faucet’s drip
The right amount to
Anoint the pit
Prevents the clunk
But I want to feel it
As it goes down
Taste what’s going to move me
Before I
Have fucking changed
The tablet drops
An essence seeps
Past consumption
Post misuse
Informed conceit
A planned reprieve
From culture’s feats
