ICYMI, last week, Post Malone released “Take What You Want,” a new song featuring a guest appearance by The Prince of Darkness himself, Mr. Ozzy Osbourne. And it’s not an unbearable trainwreck! I mean, I have no plans to ever voluntarily listen to it again, but I didn’t spend its four minutes wishing my father had been impotent or anything.

But even if you do hate the song… even if you think it’s an affront to the very concept of music… I think we can all agree that these Post Malone fans on Twitter just learning now who Ozzy is justifies the song’s entire existence. Not because Ozzy might get some new fans out of it. Just because it is so fucking funny.

Yes, it’s true: Ozzy owes Post Malone a huge debt of gratitude. Now he may finally get to have a career.

Incidentally, this dude’s reaction to these Post Malone fans not knowing Ozzy is also priceless:

For comedy, this is right up there with Taylor Swift fans only just now learning who Tool are. That actually felt more justifiable to me — Tool just released their first album in thirteen years and weren’t on any streaming services until recently, so it kinda makes sense that teenagers wouldn’t know who they were. Ozzy, on the other hand, has become a staple of pop culture, someone even my gandma recognizes. He’s also sold a lot of records. I dunno. I guess I’m just old or I take Ozzy for granted or both.

On a semi-related note, Post Malone recently revealed how the collaboration with Ozzy came out about in the first place:

“Ozzy Osbourne, baby. I was in Utah because I had just got off tour. It’s good, right? Ozzy went over to [producer Andrew] Watt’s house. You’ve talked a lot before. He’s a maniac.

“I said, ‘Hey, you know what? Ozzy Osborne’s coming down, we’re going to cut it and I’ll FaceTime you. And you let me know what’s going on.

“We talked and it was, like, a big deal. Yeah. Ozzy Osbourne. I think he crushed it. I mean, he was talking to Watt and Watt was telling me he was like this, ‘Yo, this is my favorite that I’ve done since, you know, Sabbath and since I started my own, own way.’

“I was like, ‘That’s huge.’ I’m, like, honored. ‘Thank you very much.’”

If we assume that “since I started my own, own way” means Blizzard of Ozz, that would mean Malone says Watt says Ozzy says he likes this song more than anything from Diary of a Madman or Bark at the Moon or No More Tears, which I find hard to believe. Unless Ozzy doesn’t remember Diary of a Madman or Bark at the Moon or No More Tears? That I’d buy.
