Exclusive Track Premiere: “A Wolf Knocks Once” by Bad Looks

Any idiot who claims that rock is dead hasn’t heard Bad Looks. The Los Angeles trio — vocalist/guitarist Alessandro Pulisci (At Our Heels), drummer Denny Connolly, and bassist/vocalist Lafayette Kartchner — stir up metal, punk, sludge, and stoner metal into an irresistibly riotous package that feels at once timeless and wholly modern. The band has been compared to acts like Mutoid Man and Queens of the Stone Age, and for good reason: Bad Looks share those artists’ talent for raw-yet-arena-worthy hard rock.

Take, for example, “A Wolf Knocks Once,” the first track off the band’s soon-to-be-released EP II. The main riff could be the soundtrack to a circus in Hell, the bass is so heavy it feels like it’s gonna break your neck, the drums erupt volcanically, the snotty lyrics (“I don’t wanna work, I don’t want a lease/ I just wanna fuck, I just wanna eat”) are expertly delivered via a burly roar… and it’s got a great hook that’ll sending you bouncing off the walls. It could easily end up being your pre-game song of the season.

MetalSucks is proud to premiere “A Wolf Knocks Once,” which you can check out below! EP II comes out digitally November 15, and can be pre-ordered here. The band plays LA’s Five Star Bar with fellow MetalSucks faves Pissed Regardless on October 24. Get all the details here.
