Nikki Sixx Addresses Vince Neil’s Fitness for Mötley Crüe Summer Tour

0

Vince Neil’s physical fitness has been a hot topic of speculation leading into Mötley Crüe’s upcoming summer tour, also starring Def Leppard, Poison, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and newcomers Tuk Smith and the Restless Hearts.

Neil has become the butt of jokes in recent years, with the visibly out-of-shape singer’s struggles to work his way through live performances generating viral moments like this:

One rumor claimed that a condition of the tour offer made to the band included a stipulation that Neil get in shape, and while that remains unconfirmed, we do know from the band’s long-time manager, Allen Kovac, that Neil (and the band’s other members) are all working with trainers and nutritionists to get in shape for the rigors of the road and a two-hour stage show.

Now bassist Nikki Sixx has commented on the matter, addressing Neil specifically, in response to a fan’s gently worded question on Twitter. The fan asked:

“@nikki sixx not meant in a negative way, I ask and hope I don’t get blocked.
Vince’s health??? We love Vince
Your gym posts are always great.. you know where I’m going. Trying to be diplomatic”

Sixx took kindly to the fan’s deliberate approach and offered the following encouraging answer:

“Vince is killing it. Trainers nutritionists focused on opening night. The whole band is.”

Which is certainly great to hear. Vince’s performance issues have gone back at least two decades now, so it’s good to know he’s taking his responsibilities seriously given the crazy high prices of tickets on this tour.

“Let’s see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out,” Kovac previously offered when asked about Neil’s preparation. Indeed.
