Slipknot Cancel Asian Tour Over Coronavirus Concerns

0

Slipknot have joined the growing number of musical acts that have canceled touring plans as a result of the novel coronavirus, Covid-19.

The band announced moments ago that their entire Asian tour, scheduled to take place later this month and set to include their own two-day Knotfest Japan festival, would be postponed.

The band posted the following message to social media:

“In light of global health concerns, Slipknot have decided to postpone their upcoming Asian tour, including Knotfest Japan. While decisions like this are not easy, the safety and well-being of the band’s fans always comes first. Furthermore in this case, the bands and artists, crew and local employees are also equally effected, and as such, this was the only responsible decision that could be made. Slipknot and Knotfest will both return to Asia very soon. And at such time that everyone can be ensured of the best experience possible.”

A separate statement about Knotfest Japan indicated that fans were welcome to either hold onto their tickets for a rescheduled event or request a refund, the details of which will be provided soon.

As of Wednesday, March 4, 95,400 people worldwide had contracted the coronavirus and 3,280 have died, all but 268 of them in mainland China, according to The New York Times. 1,036 cases and 6 deaths have been confirmed in Japan.
