Watch: The Agonist Vocalist Nails Alter Bridge’s “Metalingus”

0

The Agonist vocalist Vicky Psarakis is one of the most naturally talented singers in all of metal. When we commissioned her to sing on this World Metal Band thing we did with Gear Gods a couple years back — along with members of Meshuggah, Twelve Foot Ninja, Gus G. and more — she sent us a playthrough video that was meant for visual use only, but it had audio coming in hot, straight from the room, using what I believe was a phone to record it. And ho. leeeee. shit! Vicky singing in the room, off the cuff, for what was meant to be a visual prop, is 10x better than what most metal vocalists can pull off when trying their hardest on record. I’ll never forget it.

No surprise, then, that she’s decided to cover the work of another tremendous vocalist, Myles Kennedy, and done so with ease. In this version of the classic Alter Bridge track “Metalingus,” recorded with guitarist Cody Johnstone, she handles both the lows and highs with aplomb, and she isn’t even pushing the outer limits of her range… I don’t know of very many other vocalist who could make Kennedy’s work look easy peasy! Watch below.
