‘Heavy Metal’ Was a Question on Jeopardy! Last Night

The long-running television game show Jeopardy! once again made metal fans squee with delight on last night’s episode (Tuesday, June 8), when our genre of choice appeared as the answer to one of the show’s questions, read by guest host Mayim Bialik.

In the category “Musical Genres,” contestants were given the following clue: “Pantera’s ‘Vulgar Display Of Power’ & Motörhead’s ‘No Remorse’ made Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Albums of this genre.” One of the conestants, Verlinda, correctly identified the question as the abbreviated “metal” before quickly adding “heavy metal” for the $200 prize, typically the easiest level of difficulty.

You can watch the question all cued up in the player below; it appears at the 3:20 mark.

Rob Zombie, Tool, Morbid Angel and Obituary have all recently appeared in Jeopardy! questions, amongst many others in the past. Wagers of $666 were recently banned from the show.
