Want to Be Wormrot’s Vocalist? The Band Are Holding Open Auditions

0

Back in May, it was revealed that vocalist Arif would be quitting Singaporean grindcore outfit Wormrot. The news was especially bittersweet because Wormrot‘s new album Hiss is a goddamn masterpiece. Now, the band have announced that they’re looking for a new vocalist — and it could be you!

Wormrot released the following statement via their social media account today:

“We’re looking for an extreme metal vocalist preferably with a range of vocal styles (low/mid/high screams, hardcore, powerviolence, etc. no inhales). However, it is NOT a strict requirement as we’re also looking out for unique voices. ALL genders are welcomed.

“We require videos with clear audio of you singing live to at least five of our songs from Voices. The more videos you take, the better. Please do not ‘perform’ for us. Additionally, a press kit and/or links to your past works and performances will also be helpful. Submit your queries and application to [email protected] with the title ‘WR AUDITION – YOUR NAME’. All applications will be kept confidential.”

Hot damn! If you’re excited by the prospect of becoming Wormrot’s new vocalist, sign up! We think this is the feel-good story of the year!

Meanwhile, according to Arif’s parting statement, there does not appear to be any immediate bad blood between him and his bandmates, so it’s not as though you’d be wandering into a toxic situation:

“There are many other factors that are just too personal to share. Certain issues have become priorities that we just can’t avoid. It’s going to take us some time to recover. It was a difficult decision but our family is our priority and we do not wish to hold the band back.

“Also, I have to stop pretending that I am still interested being in the band. It feels wrong and disrespectful to Rasyid and Vijesh whom I regard as part of my family. The best people I have ever worked musically with.”

Good luck to all of you sending in your audition tapes! We’re excited to see who Wormrot’s next vocalist is!
