Robb Flynn Laid Down the Law with Anthrax Last Weekend

Anthrax has been celebrating their 40th anniversary for a while now, having gone on multiple tours to celebrate the four decades they’ve kicked ass as one of the planet’s premiere thrash outfits. This past Saturday marked the penultimate show their tour with Black Label Society and Exodus in Oakland, California.

Just as it had happened a couple days prior in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a special guest and heavy metal luminary joined Anthrax on stage to play with the guys. Last time it was Pantera’s Rex Brown on bass, but Oakland got a hometown boy up on stage with Anthrax when Machine Head’s Robb Flynn got on stage, guitar in hand, to play “I Am The Law.” At times, Flynn got on the mic to provide backing vocals along with Scott Ian, all the while looking like he was having a fucking blast.

After the show, Scott Ian took to his Instagram account to comment on the occasion, dubbing it “THRAX HEAD.”

I LOVE having another crushing rhythm guitar on stage left. Robb KILLED on Law last night! THRAX HEAD. Thanks brother!!! And thank you Oakland for an incredible show. The Bay Area rules!!! Last show of the tour tonight in Anaheim!

As a fan, it had to have been awesome to watch the guys rip through “I Am The Law” with a little added oomph with Flynn in the mix.

With the Anthrax/Black Label Society/Exodus tour now in the books, Anthrax only have a couple festival engagements in Europe on the docket at the moment (Brutal Assault Festival in the Czech Republic and Alcatraz 2023 in Belguim). That being said, Scott Ian’s going to be on the road with Mr. Bungle in the near future and Charlie Benante’s got a whole mess of Pantera dates to get ready for, so there will be some pretty busy members of Anthrax throughout the year.
