A Metalhead and His Guitar Tear Sh*t Up The Shredderz’ Video for Their Single, “Shredderz”

0

Earlier this month, a new virtual metal band known as The Shredderz was unveiled to the masses. Described as a “multi-dimensional” virtual supergroup, the cartoon/NFT/Web3 project put out their first official music video for their previously revealed song, “Shredderz.”

Featuring Testament’s Alex Skolnick, the song helps introduce what the band has to offer right out of the gate. It’s a ripper, for sure and now it’s got an appropriate music video to go along with it.

Lead guitarist Weezel said the band was excited to have Testament’s Alex Skolnick contribute to their debut track. And while the video below is what they released, the Metalversian guitarist said the original concept was way more over-the-top.

“Yeah, we were pretty psyched to get Alex to shred on the track, but he knows a great tune when he hears it. Anyways, our manager and the ‘suits’ kept tellin’ us that we gotta shoot a video for ‘Shredderz’ So, the label rented a bunch of helicopters, three tanks and a bunch of explosives for the video, but half of us overslept and missed the first day of shooting, so they went with plan B and kinda documented ‘a day in the life’ of one of our fans. Turned out pretty rad tho… so we’re stoked”

The Shredderz will release their debut album later this summer and will feature a number of guest spots including Gary Holt (Slayer, Exodus), Derrick Green (Sepultura), Brandon Ellis (Black Dahlia Murder), George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), Dan Lilker (ex-Anthrax, Nuclear Assault), Taina Bergamaschi & Jessica DiFalchi (Crypta), Dave Davidson (Revocation), and Jessica Pimentel (Brujeria, Orange is the New Black).

Tom Wheeley, SVP New Business at The Orchard, described the NFT side of The Shredderz as an attempt at making the band feel more like a community-driven effort.

“The Shredderz are the first virtual band to connect streaming data with a dynamic NFT, facilitated by The Orchard’s existing partnerships with major DSPs and new relationships with Chainlink and OpenSea. By owning a Shredderz Access Pass, fans will become members of an engaged community that participates in determining the future of the project, and be rewarded for it with both artist access and utility.”

So with all that out of the way, be sure to check out the video below and keep an eye out for what else is coming from The Shredderz.
