All That Remains Drummer Jason Costa Announces Departure for “Deeply Personal” Reasons

Despite the various lineup changes within All That Remains, one of the constant faces within the band has been drummer Jason Costa. Yet all of that changed earlier today, as he announced his departure from the act after 17 years.

According to a post on the band’s official Instagram account, the 50-year-old drummer assured fans that everything was fine within All That Remains, but that it was his time to go.

“Hi everyone. For the last 17 years I have had an absolute blast writing, touring, creating and partying in this band with people that I love and respect.

“My reasons for leaving are deeply personal and have nothing to do with any drama or anything within the band. I love these guys and consider myself extremely lucky to have been a part of this for so long.

“I won’t be quitting music for good so hopefully I’ll still see all you friends and acquaintances around the world again in the future! Thank you all so much for countless great shows, energy and incredibly fun times!!”

This isn’t the first time that his personal life impeded his professional one. Last year, Costa dropped off the band’s U.S. tour in order to “deal with some personal matters.” Ex-Beneath The Massacre and Shadow of Intent drummer Anthony Barone filled in for Costa at that time.

Since joining All That Remains in 2006, Costa is featured on the last six albums: Overcome, For We Are Many, A War You Cannot Win, The Order Of Things, Madness, and Victim Of The New Disease.

There’s no news as to who will take Costa’s place in the band moving forward, but once that detail is announced, we’ll have it here.
