David Lee Roth Ready for ‘The Best of All Worlds Tour,” But Sammy Hagar Says “No F*cking Way”

0

Last week, big news broke about a new tour featuring Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham, and Joe Satriani that would pay homage to the great Van Halen. Dubbed the “Best of All Worlds” tour as a nod to the “Best of Both Worlds” run that took place 20 years ago, the 28-date run across North America would effectively be a big ol’ trip down memory lane.

And while it’s cool to think that Van Hagar (minus any of the actual Van Halens) is coming back in some form, one man is looking to get back into the fold — one Mr. David Lee Roth.

During an appearance last week on The Howard Stern Show, Hagar sort of opened the door to the possibility of Roth hopping on stage with the band at some point. That is, before hitting him with a slight dig…

“It’s time. Nobody else is gonna do it. If Dave [Lee Roth] goes out, he can’t sing my stuff. [But] we can do a few of the early Van Halen songs. I have no problem with that; I did it when I was in Van Halen. This is really a celebration of all that, and we are the only ones who can do it.

“We’re gonna invite every musician in every town. First of all, whenever you play, if there’s a guitar player in town, no matter what city it is, they come out to see Joe, just like they used to for Eddie [Van Halen]. So if we’ve got other guitar players, we’ll get them involved, other singers, get them involved. If [Van Halen drummer] Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen.”

In response to that statement, Roth issued a quick, simple statement of his own to Van Halen News Desk: “I’m ready to go. Let’s do this.”

Yet now, in what might be a clarification/reversal, Hagar was quick to shoot down even the slightest idea that Roth would hop on for the whole tour. When asked on social media about Roth’s response and involvement in the tour, Hagar fucking let it rip across multiple comments.

“He can come out and sing a song on a show or two, if he can remember the words. He’s not invited on the tour NOOO F;()$(.g way. It was to sing a song with us somewhere like a lot of singers guitarist ect are going to do on this tour. I know better than to have him on tour again. Been there done that.”

“He ain’t coming out with me again. Maybe 1 show a song or 2 if he remembers the words.”

Fucking oof.
