Amon Amarth Dropped a Music Video for “Saxons & Vikings” Featuring Saxon’s Biff Byford
If you know anything about the real Saxons and vikings, you know they weren’t the best of friends. In fact, shit was down right murderous between them. In fact, vikings apparently tortured two Anglo-Saxon kings as they tried to conquer England. They were eventually defeated by the West Saxons, but not after a whole lot of bloodshed.
All of that is preamble to say that the latest single and video for Amon Amarth‘s “Saxons and Vikings” is appropriately brutal, but really it’s the product of a collaboration between the band and Saxon‘s vocalist Biff Byford. Along with his bandmates Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt, they stand against Johan Hegg and the rest of Amon Amarth in battle.
Speaking of the video and working with Saxon, Hegg said it was a great experience for everyone involved.
“Recording this song with the legends from Saxon was amazing. It was such an honor to have them on this track, and to shoot a video with them was so much fun. I think the video came out great, really epic. It captures the essence of the song perfectly and the fight scenes are awesome!”
Still supporting their most recent studio album, The Great Heathen Army, Amon Amarth have already announced a long line of tour dates for next year. From their North American “Metal Crushes All Tour” to the European run dubbed “Heidrun Over Europe,” there’s plenty of chances to get on your ass in the pit and row for your viking brethren.
