Sleep Token Fans Scramble as Band Nukes Their Instagram Account, Says “Nothing Lasts Forever”

0

Enigmatic pop/r&b/metal hotness Sleep Token have been a divisive force in music since blowing the fuck up last year, generating huge amounts of buzz and collecting more than 540,000 followers on Instagram alone. Yet just earlier today, they left their followers on the image-based social media platform in the lurch, as literally every post on that account has been deleted.

While that sort of thing is nothing new (and typically can precede some major announcement), the thing that’s got fans most spooked is the new tagline on the account, which reads: “Nothing lasts forever.”

Of course, those two moves alone have caused fans to lose their actual fucking minds. Some are wondering out loud if this means the band’s going to change up their look again, just like Ghost does between album cycles. However, their latest album Take Me Back To Eden is less than a year old, so that’s less likely…

One potential reason is the fact that the identity of one of the band’s members might have been leaked to the public. Not unlike the Ghost situation, you eventually get caught out in public without a mask, hence the whole “nothing lasts forever” IG bio.

In one instance, one of the band members’ birth certificates was posted online, leading to a lot of frustration and backlash from fans who a) didn’t want the mystique ruined and/or b) hate the apparent invasion of privacy. Super not cool.

We’re unsure what this all means for the band moving forward. As of right now, fans are still trying to figure out what’s next, but we likely won’t know until they actually do something with their IG account. Until then, your guess is as good as mine.
