The Halo Effect Drop Video for Previously Unreleased Single “Become Surrender”
Swedish melodic death metal outfit The Halo Effect are gearing up for a tour with Meshuggah next month and to get people hyped, they finally released a fan favorite track that’s never been officially released before: “Become Surrender.”
The track and accompanying video were released earlier today and features live footage of the band. As you may or may not know, The Halo Effect is comprised of five former members of In Flames: guitarist Jesper Strömblad, drummer Daniel Svensson, bassist Peter Iwers, guitarist Niclas Engelin, and vocalist Mikael Stanne.
Speaking of the track, Stanne said it’s been a regular song in the band’s setlists, but only now have they decided to put out the studio version.
“´Become Surrender´ was written and recorded during the Days Of The Lost sessions, but for some reason we left it out of the album. It has been something we have played during festivals and on our tours and the response has been nothing short of fantastic, so we decided to release it in the interim before we start rolling out singles for the second album. The video was shot during our sold out show at Pustervik here in our hometown of Gothenburg in front of a few of our closest friends and hopefully the joy and love we felt in the room that night shines through.
“It’s a song about perseverance over distance and not giving in to despair or doubt. Turn it up!”
The Halo Effect are currently scheduled to go on tour through Europe with Meshuggah and Mantar next March. For more information and the full list of dates, scroll past the video below.
