Alcest Tackle Deep Loss with New Single “Flamme Jumelle”

0

In life, we all will experience profound moments of discovery and loss when it comes to the people closest to our hearts. Sadly, those moments where our loved ones go away are especially poignant and French blackgaze outfit Alcest‘s newest single “Flamme Jumelle” deals with those moments.

Set to release with the band’s upcoming album Les Chants De L’Aurore, this new single has a bright sound, despite its sorrowful nature. Given the bright and colorful video below, Alcest’s everything-but-the-drums dude Neige said all of that was by design.

“Despite its more accessible vibe, this song is actually the most personal song of the album for me. ‘Flamme Jumelle’, which means ‘Twin Flame’, is about the idea of loss in general and the difficulty of coping with the absence of someone you deeply loved. It could be a family member, a friend, or a partner. On a more spiritual level, the title refers to the possibility that certain souls are connected in this life and beyond, and that separation is temporary and just a mortal concept.”

Along with the album’s upcoming release this June, the band have also scheduled a number of tour dates throughout Europe for later this year. The full list of dates and venues can be seen below.

Les Chants De L’Aurore will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on June 21, but you can preorder your copy today.
