Stadium Bans Pair of Jackasses For Climbing a Speaker Tower During a Metallica Concert
Last month, one of the craziest tour stories to make the rounds came out of a Metallica show in Australia. In that story, it was alleged that two men attempted to climb one of those huge speaker towers found at Metallica’s stadium shows — you know, the one with those big ass speakers and pyro effects on them.
You may recall the story begins with those two dudes, a 20-year-old Beau William Loch Rollings from Carey Park and a 23-year-old Rory Hugh Culbert from Australind, attempting to scale the towers. They were eventually ordered to stop and come back down by police. Once the complied, they were taken into custody and whisked away to be charged with tresspassing.
Well, it turns out according to Perth Now that not only did those guys end up in court, but they’re now banned for life from Perth’s Optus Stadium. According to the Perth Magistrates court case that took place last Tuesday, both men hopped a security fence around 10:30 p.m. and began climbing the tower for about 20 minutes before eventually coming back down to ground level.
Both men pled guilty to their trespassing charge. The police prosecutor said neither man had any explanation for why they did what they did and that their phones, which had footage of their actions, were seized as evidence by investigators.
Rollings’ attorney called his client’s actions was “just stupid behavior” that would only be a one-time event. Rollings eventually told the judge that he had been drinking prior to climbing the tower, which… yeah, of course he did.
Rollings was ultimately fined $1,000, charged $308 in court fees, and received the aforementioned lifetime ban. As for Culbert, he was separately sentenced but received similar punsihments.
