The Darkness Unveil New Ripper, “It’s Love, Jim”

0

Is it just me or are The Darkness BACK, BABY! Not that they ever went away (well, other than the four years they broke up, of course) but I feel like this latest batch of songs is particularly good, harking back to the band’s vaunted early work. Critics probably say that every time, but I’m super into the band’s newest work in a way they haven’t connected with me in a long while.

Following the supremely catchy power-pop anthem “Jussy’s Girl,” released last month, The Darkness have now unveiled another song with a name in its title, “It’s Love, Jim.” This one’s way more hard rockin’ than the former, but no less catchy. I’m feeling that must be tied to Justin Hawkins’ distinct voice and delivery.

Here’s what Hawkins has to say about the track:

“This song (herein referred to as “she/her”) is all about an extra-terrestrial goddess of other worldly beauty. She’s fast, powerful, not of this earth. Her sensual symphony nestles in your ear and lays mind eggs that seep confidence liquid into your brains. You’ll feel invincible all day long, and everything will go right after you hear it. Yeah, so it’s really catchy and should be number 1 all around the world please.”

I feel that!! It’s an energizer for sure, and haven’t we all been in that mindset, walking around feeling all powerful and great because of a particular song lodged in our head that day?
