IWABO STREAMING NEW TRACK WITH THE BEST SONG TITLE OF THE YEAR

Not only does the title “Deodorant Can’t Fix Ugly” make me laugh every time I see it, and not only have I been saying it people for most of the summer (seriously), but it also happens to be my favorite song on Iwrestledabearonce’s new album, Ruining it for Everybody. And now it’s streaming right here!

The first half of the song is typically whacky IWABO stuff, but it’s the second half of the song, when it slows down and becomes really epic, that gets me. And then, at the end — A CHOIR! GLORY, GLORY, HALLELUJAH! And according to an interview with guitarist Stephen Bradley that accompanies the track debut, the song is “all about organized religion and questioning things as opposed to following them blindly,” which I did not previously realize. So now that choir takes on extra meaning/hilarity, and feels like more than just something random the band did ’cause it sounds cool.

      HOW on earth this guy likes this band while not liking other bands is beyond me. This band sucks worse than any of that dubstep, metalcore, (insert genre they seem to hate on constantly). I am not even a fan of August Burns Red but they destroy this band I wrestle bears 10x over. This is a hipster fad as far as I am concerned.

          People hate on this band here because most of the people here are metal fans. If you go to any scene kid website im sure they all love the shit out of it. They get hate here because they are a crummy scene band who has seemingly paid metalsucks enough to get some coverage.

    I just glanced and saw he referred to the second part of the song as “epic” I remember when I overreacted and called things I listened to as epic. I Disappear by Metllica, Linkin Park’s first album, maybe even Atreyu at some point. Difference is I was 16 at the time and a complete moron to usage of the word epic. Most over used word morons use to describe music that is anything but.

    I like this band for the same reason that I like Between the Buried and Me. You get a melting pot. I don’t like their merch, and I don’t particularly care for many of their fans, but it’s fun music to listen to. Not mind blowing by any means (like that new Rwake track posted earlier) but I can dig what they are doing. They are certainly better than me at creating music, and their singer aint half bad to look at either. They have an image, but so do pretty much any band that the nerds wet themselves over. I’ve been into metal for going on 18 years, and I’m glad to see that bands are still willing to have a little fun playing it and not take themselves too seriously.

    Fuck i hate this name. I hate EVERYTHING about this band. Ugly neon colors mixed with ironically gross imagery. The witty song titles having nothing to do with anything, the WORST band name since Limp Bizkit and all the random guitar wanks and junk filler FUUUCCKKKKK!!!! MORE SHITASS SCENE KID CRAP!!!!

    I’m still convinced the site’s promotion of this band is just a sick joke akin to Gary Suarez’s 5/5 review of the Oceano record or ICP’s Bizzar/Bizaar being voted the #1 album of the 21st century thus far. That’s what I’m hoping at least.

        why is everyone saying this? these guys own this site, why is it so unbelievable for axl to like this bands music? ya sure, he probly kinda knows them and blazes whenever they’re in new york but thats in no way a bribe. just because everyone whos never heard a lick of their music hates them already doesnt mean someone who actually gives the MUSIC a chance will agree. seriously, get a grip. dont comment if you dont like the topic of conversation.

    Reading hate comments on this site, especially about this band, is the literary equivalent to tickling my taint because it is oh so hilariously silly!

    Simply disliking this bands music is completely acceptable, however it is abundantly clear that the music in most cases has little to do with the “hate” and typically, as well as hypocritically, has to do with the very reasons this band is hated in the first place.

    Lets look at what commenter JON BUKLEY has to say:

    Well Jon, there are traits to the human condition, which are known as taste and preference. There are literally hundreds of specific details, which contribute to why a person may like one band as opposed to another. Some are quite in depth and yes others can be shallow, however considering the issue at hand is music – a medium of entertainment – the shallowness is rendered completely irrelevant.

    My favorite quote so far though goes to DARTH BROOKS:

    Self – proclaimed “true metal heads” try to convince the public at large when flaming a band that they don’t like that their tastes in music are much more mature as opposed to “scene kids” because that after all is exactly why they are called “scene” – apart of it is about trends and fashion and what not. Which is true, however what people don’t seem to realize or try to hide is that is exactly what EVERY genre of music goes by as well.

    Even a genre like Black metal runs along musical and fashion trends no different then a genre like metalcore. It is all apart of the same spectrum of music only lying on opposite sides. Which is exactly why such genres can be so polarizing.

    So thank you DARTH for displaying just how shallow true metal heads can truly be! IWABO’s look is absolutely just as much apart of peoples distaste for this band as their music.

    Which, by the way, in my own personal opinion is exactly why this band gets such a bad rap.

      You make some good points. If a metal band like Mastodon or someone doesn’t want their album to leak they should just label it as this band. Metalheads won’t go near it just because of the name.

      I just don’t like their music.

      my comments were meant to point out that i hate their pointless widdling going knowhere, and lack of songwriting skill. its all a mess of riffs. i love quoting myself, and i specifically said their music is fat with “guitar wanks and junk filler”. neon aside, what i didnt mention is i hate her clean vocals. and im not really a metalhead, i just dont have time to listen to JUNK bands. i go straight to the top of the foodchain in every genre i can digest.

        Well I was using the term “metalhead” ironically, but that quote is the “professing to be more mature” that I was talking about earlier.

        You see more then not it seems like it can’t just simply be: Some people like this band, but I don’t. To each his own.

        It’s like people have to justify their tastes in a medium, which does not need any justification. It’s entertainment, not politics.

    This band is just awful. I’m all about the noise grind, but IWABO is the audible equivalent of “LOL I’M RANDOM!!!1!” Just trendy hipsters who wrote one repeatedly recycled riff in 5/8. And seriously, ANOTHER song criticizing organized religion? “Hey, Hot Topic crowd, WE FEEL YOU. LOL. INVADER ZIM IS RAD, TOO.” Instead of putting a sample in the song, why not write another variation of that 5/8 riff and actually play your instruments?

    i’ve got nothing against this band people will like what they are gnna like and hate what they are gonna hate. but all the promotion that metalsucks id giving them i cannot but help thinking that they are related to someone on the metalsucks staff or have given a really good bribe.

      I think you are right to a degree. There’s two sides to it.

      Throughout the years the writers at metalsucks talk to bands and form relationships and what not, it is true that many bands on here get attention not just for the music, but out of other reasons like freindship and mutual support and what not.

      Then there is also the buisness aspect. The term “bribe” is a little dramatic, but the fact is bands that Metalsucks sponsor (for whatever reasons) will most likely get more coverage. Just the nature of the beast really.

      Either way I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. There are bands that Metalsucks supports that I like, there ones that I don’t like. I just don’t pay attention to the bands that I don’t like.

      And I think in general MS does a decent job keeping things fair anyway.
