YNGWIE MALMSTEEN UNLEASHED THE FUCKING FURY ON JIMMY FALLON

Monday, February 7th, 2011 at 3:30pm by

Last month Vince gave you the heads up that Mr. Yngwie Malmsteen himself was gonna sit in with The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (The Roots serve as Fallon’s house band); well, that momentous occasion has now occurred, and our friends at Metal Injection have, very helpfully, edited all of Malmsteen’s clips together, so you can just see his parts of the show. The entire thing totals less than three and a half minutes, but Yngwie fits in all the Yngwesomeness he can in that time — in fact, one point, I’m reasonably certain that they had to cut him off ’cause he wouldn’t stop shredding. So, good to know the old boy hasn’t let all those cheeseburgers slow him down any.

Side note — Holy shit, Yngwie Malmsteen played with The Roots. Never thought I’d see that happen.

WATCH THIS RIDICULOUS FOOTAGE OF YNGWIE AT THE NAMM SHOW

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 12:00pm by

It’s kind of unbelievable to me that twenty some-odd years later Yngwie still does the whole shtick with the leg kicks and such, but man, bless his soul. If today’s emo or deathcore are the modern equivalents of ’80s hair/shred, as some have claimed, I’ll take Yngwie’s whole shpiel any day of the week.

Metal Insider is reporting that Yng-Yng The Great is going to make an appearance on February 3rd on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and better yet, that he’ll be sitting in with house band The Roots. No word yet on whether ?uest Love will be donning his mink coat.

THE BEST THING SEBASTIAN BACH HAS DONE IN YEARS?

Thursday, January 6th, 2011 at 4:00pm by

So Baz was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night (Fallon is a known hair metal enthusiast), providing vocals for a bit about having a power ballad for the Oregon Ducks. (In case you’re sportarded like I am, that’s a college football team.) And while it’s immediately better than that song Sevendust did for the Atlanta Falcons ’cause it’s intentionally funny, and is probably better than anything else Bach has done in some time for the same reason, I still think the gag gets old fast. But whatever keeps Sebitchin from biting people, I guess.

JIMMY FALLON AND BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN JUMP ON THE WILLOW SMITH “WHIP MY HAIR” TRAIN

Monday, November 22nd, 2010 at 3:00pm by

Will Smith’s 9-year old daughter Willow Smith swept the metal world by storm last month when her head-banging hit “Whip My Hair” topped the charts, inspiring a legion of metal video remixes and begging the question of whether Willow is more metal than her mom Jada of the forever-ridiculed Wicked Wisdom.

Jimmy Fallon took things in the opposite direction on his show last week, performing a Neil Young-style version of the song with the episode’s guest, Bruce Springsteen.

THAT is metal.

EVERY TIME I TWEET (I GET SUED)

Thursday, October 14th, 2010 at 11:00am by

Somewhere, a satisfied school marm is smirking, “I told those Buckley boys if they weren’t careful they’d get into real trouble some day!”

So. Recently, I haven’t been paying as close attention to Twitter as perhaps I ought to. But I guess the dudes from Every Time I Die were were posting bogus re-tweets from celebrities in order to promote their new DVD, Shit Happens. Some examples, according to Lambgoat:

“RT @AndyDick i did the Jimmy Kimmel show w/ @evereytimeidie in 08, they’re cracking me up, get their dvd”

“RT @peeweeherman: New ETID DVD in stores 10/26! I sure hope they play THAT in a dark, seedy theater!”

“RT @JimmyFallon @everytimeidie this is brilliant, you guys need to come play my show to promote your new dvd!”

Well, hey, guess what? Some of these celebs — or, at least, their handlers — got wind of the little prank, and ETID is now facing legal action: The band has revealed via Twitter that they’ve received “seize [sic] and desist papers” (I assume they mean “cease and desist papers”), that “saying that most of those tweets were fake didn’t appease the celebs,” and that the band is “getting taken to court.”

SHADOWS FALL FUCK UP JIMMY FALLON’S GREEN ROOM, SLAY HIS AUDIENCE

Friday, September 4th, 2009 at 1:02pm by

Below is video of Shadows Fall on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. It’s an awesome performance of the new song “Still I Rise,” but unfortunately, it doesn’t show what might have been the best part of the show: our favorite Massholes completely destroying Fallon’s personal green room (NOT his guest green room) during a live, on-air promo right before they played. If anyone saw that – you should know that it was not staged, and no one on Fallon’s team (or The Shads’, as I understand it) had any idea what the band had planned (these promos usually consist of just waving to the camera and being boring). You can watch video of the band going all GN’R/Headbanger’s Ball on the green room’s ass here.

You might think Fallon was pretty pissed, but apparently he thought it was awesome and is only too-excited to have SF back on his show in the near future – the above photo was actually taken after the green room incident. So props to Fallon for being a cool dude.

Shadows Fall’s new album, Retribution, drops September 15 on Everblack Industries/Ferret.

DEMI LOVATO LOVES METAL

Friday, July 24th, 2009 at 2:13pm by

A friend sent us the below clip of Demi Lovato talking about her appreciation of Job for a Cowboy, Abigail Williams and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster (go to 3:16 in the clip). Of course, I had to use Wikipedia to figure out who the fuck Demi Lovato is, and turns out she has exactly the kind of career you’d expect her to based on her appearance. Still, I guess if she can get some twelve year old girls into JFAC, it’s all good… right?

In other news, good to see that Jimmy Fallon is still a massive tool.
